10-Year Workmanship Guarantee

Last updated: [OWNER: Insert date] Version: 1.0

Elevation Glazing Ltd provides a 10-year installation workmanship guarantee on all domestic and commercial glazing installations. This page sets out what is covered, what is excluded, the conditions under which the guarantee is valid, and how to make a claim.

This guarantee is provided in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. See Section 1 below.

1. Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in this guarantee limits or excludes your statutory rights as a consumer. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and goods supplied must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If we fall short of these standards, you have rights to a repair, repeat performance, price reduction or refund — regardless of any contractual guarantee we offer. For further information, visit citizensadvice.org.uk.

2. Workmanship Guarantee — 10 Years

Elevation Glazing Ltd provides a 10-year workmanship guarantee from the date of installation on all glazing works we carry out, covering defects directly attributable to our installation workmanship.

What the guarantee covers

The following defects arising from our installation workmanship are covered for 10 years from the date of installation:

  • Installation defects — any defect in the method or quality of our installation work
  • Incorrect fitting — frames, units or components incorrectly fitted by our operatives
  • Water ingress caused by installation failure — leaks or water penetration resulting directly from our installation or sealing work, not from building or structural defects
  • Operational issues caused by poor installation — windows or doors that do not open, close, lock or seal correctly due to incorrect installation by us
  • Sealing failures due to workmanship — failure of sealant or weathering applied by us during installation

What the guarantee does not cover (exclusions)

The following are expressly excluded from the workmanship guarantee:

  • Fair wear and tear — gradual deterioration through normal use over time
  • Accidental damage — damage caused by impact, misuse or accident after installation is complete
  • Misuse or failure to maintain — damage resulting from use contrary to manufacturer guidelines, or failure to carry out recommended maintenance (e.g. cleaning tracks, lubricating hardware)
  • Structural movement or subsidence — distortion, cracking or failure caused by building settlement, subsidence or structural movement not attributable to our work
  • Third-party alterations or damage — any modification, adjustment, repair or damage carried out by anyone other than Elevation Glazing Ltd after installation
  • Condensation — surface or interstitial condensation not directly caused by an installation defect; condensation is often a function of ventilation and occupancy rather than installation quality
  • Manufacturer defects — defects in the products themselves (glass units, frames, hardware) are covered by the relevant manufacturer's warranty, not our workmanship guarantee; we will assist in directing such claims to the appropriate manufacturer

3. Conditions of Guarantee Validity

The 10-year workmanship guarantee is valid only where all of the following conditions are met:

Full payment The full contract price has been received by Elevation Glazing Ltd in accordance with agreed payment terms.
No post-installation alterations The installation has not been altered, adjusted, modified or interfered with by any party other than Elevation Glazing Ltd after completion.
Reasonable maintenance Reasonable maintenance has been carried out in accordance with manufacturer and installer guidance — including cleaning, lubrication of moving parts and inspection of seals.
No third-party interference The installation has not been interfered with or worked upon by any third party whose work has caused or contributed to the defect claimed.

If any of the above conditions are not met, Elevation Glazing Ltd reserves the right to decline a guarantee claim in full or in part. This does not affect your statutory rights.

4. Product Warranties

Products supplied and installed by us (frames, glazed units, hardware) may carry separate manufacturers' warranties. These are provided by the product manufacturer independently of our workmanship guarantee. We will pass on relevant warranty documentation where available and assist with manufacturer warranty claims where we are able.

Manufacturer defects are not covered by our workmanship guarantee — they are covered by the manufacturer's own warranty. If you believe a product has failed, contact us and we will help identify whether the issue is a workmanship or manufacturer matter and direct your claim accordingly.

Product type Manufacturer warranty
Aluminium frame systems Confirmed with individual suppliers — details provided at point of quotation
UPVC frame systems Confirmed with individual suppliers — details provided at point of quotation
Sealed glazing units Typically 5–10 years against seal failure — confirmed per unit supplied
Hardware (locks, hinges, handles) Confirmed with individual suppliers — details provided at point of quotation
Powder coating / surface finish Confirmed with individual suppliers — details provided at point of quotation

5. Insurance-Backed Guarantees (IBG) — Vetting in Progress

Elevation Glazing Ltd is currently undergoing IBG vetting through HomePro. Once vetting and registration are complete, we will be able to offer Insurance-Backed Guarantees on domestic installations alongside our standard workmanship guarantee.

An IBG provides additional protection: if Elevation Glazing Ltd were to cease trading during the 10-year guarantee period, the IBG insurer would honour the guarantee in our place, protecting your investment regardless of our trading status.

  • IBG will be available on domestic installations once HomePro registration is confirmed
  • Any cost for an IBG policy will be clearly stated in your written quotation
  • An IBG is issued directly by the IBG provider and is subject to their terms and conditions
  • Full policy details will be provided at the time of issue

If IBG availability is important to your project decision, please contact us for the current status of our registration.

6. FENSA Certificates — Registration in Progress

Elevation Glazing Ltd is currently undergoing FENSA registration. Until registration is confirmed, all eligible domestic window and door replacement works are carried out to applicable Building Regulations requirements (Approved Document L). Where required, compliance is demonstrated through the appropriate Local Authority notification route.

Once FENSA registration is confirmed, FENSA certificates will be issued on all eligible domestic replacement installations, providing documentary proof of Building Regulations compliance and protection for homeowners on resale. We will update this page when registration is complete.
